Terms of Use

Last updated 14 September 2026

The app is free to use. The free version is supported by advertising. An optional Premium purchase removes every ad and renews your adhan alerts without the app being opened. No feature is locked behind it.

Licence

You are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use Salatia on devices you own or control, for as long as these terms are followed. The app is licensed, not sold. You may not resell it, redistribute it, or attempt to derive its source code.

Subscriptions and purchases

Premium is offered in three forms:

Prices are shown in your local currency on the purchase screen before you buy, and are set per country by the store. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.

You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your store account settings: Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.

Refunds

All payments are processed by Apple or Google, not by us. We cannot issue refunds directly. Refund requests go to Apple Support or Google Play Support under their respective policies.

Advertising

The free version shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Ads are filtered to Google's most restrictive content rating, and sensitive categories are blocked in our AdMob settings. Ad networks are large and automated, so if an ad ever appears that is inappropriate for a prayer app, please report it to us with a screenshot and we will block it.

The free version shows banner ads, occasional full-screen ads between screens, and a full-screen ad when the app is opened. No ads are shown during a prayer quiet window or beside the Quran text, and no full-screen ads are shown over the adhan or while the Quran is being recited. Buying Premium removes all advertising immediately.

Notifications

In the free version, adhan alerts are scheduled one week ahead and are renewed each time you open the app; a notification the day before tells you they are about to pause. Premium renews them automatically — on iPhone through background refresh, which iOS runs at times of its own choosing, so opening the app also renews them. The optional "Ayah of the day" notification can be switched off in Settings.

Prayer times are a calculation, not a ruling

Prayer times are computed on your device from established astronomical methods and the calculation parameters you choose. Methods legitimately disagree, and local mosques may differ from any of them. The app offers per-prayer offsets so you can match your masjid. Where the app and your masjid differ, follow your masjid. We do not present these times as a religious ruling.

Qibla

The Qibla compass depends on your device's magnetometer, which can be disturbed by metal, magnets, and phone cases. Treat it as a guide and verify where accuracy matters.

Quran content

Quran text, translations, tafsir and recitation audio are provided through the Quran Foundation Content API and remain the property of their respective rights holders. They are made available inside the app for personal religious use. Translations and tafsir are limited to a reviewed list of sources; see the in-app source information. We do not claim ownership of any Quranic text, translation, tafsir or recitation.

Do Not Disturb and notifications

The app can request permission to change your device's Do Not Disturb state around prayer times. Operating systems change how this works between versions, and some manufacturers restrict it further. The app reports honestly when a quiet period could not be applied, but it cannot guarantee that every device will honour it. Do not rely on the app alone for anything safety-critical, such as an alarm you must not miss.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculated times will match any particular authority.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date before the version they apply to ships.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Credits and licences

Salatia is an independent app and is not an official Quran Foundation application. The same list appears in the app under Settings › Acknowledgements.
